Update On Future Of WWE Content Library

Update On Future Of WWE Content Library

An update on what to expect regarding the WWE content library when the Peacock deal comes to an end has been provided.

Fans have noticed that WWE content will be leaving Peacock at the end of 2025, as the company has since entered a media rights deal with ESPN for the Premium Live Events, along with Raw, SmackDown and NXT being broadcast on Netflix, USA Network and the CW respectively for at last the next 4 years.

With the classic content having no official home, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has provided more information. It is noted in the report that the content is expected to be rolled out onto the promotion’s official YouTube channel along with WWE Vault, which has gradually uploaded full matches, documentaries and previously unseen footage since its launch. It is also added that it is unlikely that the full library will just be uploaded in one go, as the company are happy with how much buzz the channel gets when new videos are uploaded, and the return it received in viewership.

Fightful also notes that one source stated that the WWE library is ot the draw it once was, and is unlikely to fetch a media rights deal.

The most popular video on the WWE Vault YouTube channel is currently the Extreme Rules 2019 match that saw Roman Reigns and The Undertaker face Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre, which currently has 24 million views.

International WWE Fans Also No Longer Have Access To Content Library

Although fans in the United States will soon see the classic content removed from the Peacock streaming service, this has been something that fans in the UK and around the world have had to deal with for the best part of a year. The WWE Network, which contained every PPV, all episodes of Raw, SmackDown, NXT and classic content from the likes of WCW and ECW, was closed down at the end of 2024 as the new deal with Netflix began on Janaury 1 2025. Although select episodes of Raw and SmackDown have been added, along with all WWE pay-per-views, fans have regularly noted the library is much more stripped back.

Fans can now watch select WCW content on the dedicated YouTube channel, but there is currently nowhere to officially watch back episodes of ECW, or other content from the territory days.
