Triple H has confirmed that even more will be on the line at WWE King and Queen of the Ring.
The last few iterations of the tournament that took place under the previous regime have been heavily criticised as the winners did not receive anything more than a cheap crown and sceptre along with being booked very poorly until the gimmick was dropped when higher-ups ran out of ideas. However, much like many decisions under the Triple H era, a logical change has been made.
While the tournaments themselves have been very well-received due to the time given for matches and the overall quality of the in-ring work has been of a high standard, Triple H has also given the competitors something to fight for. Announced ahead of the Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia on social media, Paul Levesque confirmed that the stakes have been raised as the winners of each tournament will receive a world title shot at SummerSlam on August 3rd:
The stakes just got even higher. The winners of this Saturday’s King and Queen of the Ring Tournament Finals will each secure a championship opportunity at #SummerSlam. #WWEKingAndQueen
The King and Queen of the Ring finals are as follows:
- Gunther vs. Randy Orton or Tama Tonga – King of the Ring final
- Lyra Valkyria vs. Bianca Belair or Nia Jax – Queen of the Ring final
The finals will take place on Saturday, May 25th.
