Tony Khan has commented on Will Ospreay and when fans can expect to see the AEW star back in the ring.
The British star was last seen in action in the main event of Forbidden Door in London. Alongside Darby Allin, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi and Hiroshi Tanahashi, which was also the NJPW President’s final match in the UK, the babyface team defeated The Deathriders, The Young Bucks and Gabe Kidd in a Lights Out steel cage match.
Just as it appeared that Ospreay was going to send the fans home happy, The Aerial Assassin was attacked by the heels, which was also to write Ospreay off TV so that he could get neck surgery. Ospreay has since let the fans know that the surgery was a success and he is now recovering from the operation.
“Hopefully The First Half Of Next Year”: When Tony Khan Expects Will Ospreay To Return
While appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Khan was asked about the status of Ospeay, to which the AEW President responded that he hopes to see the former International Champion back in the first half of 2026:
“Will Ospreay’s gonna be back with AEW, I think, hopefully earlier next year. I can’t say exactly when but it’ll be next year, and I hope it’ll be in the first half of next year.”
At Full Gear 2023, Ospreay announced that he had signed a deal with All Elite Wrestling and would be competing in the company full-time moving forward. On top of multiple critically acclaimed matches and PPV main events, Ospreay has also held the International Championship 2 times.
