Tony Khan has explained why a match originally scheduled for AEW Revolution has been cancelled.
Prior to the March pay-per-view, advertised ahead of time was a Meat Madness match with Wardlow, Lance Archer and Powerhouse Hobbs announced as participants. However, shortly before the February 28th Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that the match would be postponed until further notice.
Speaking with WrestleZone, Khan explained the original concept for the match and that he wanted Miro and Keith Lee to be in the match. However, with multiple injuries meaning that he can’t do the match justice, Khan has put the match on ice:
“I wanted to put a lot of the big wrestlers and get the crowd fired up for a multi-man scramble, a Meat Madness match. I think the crowd would enjoy it and it would be a lot of fun, but some of the wrestlers I was hoping to use….right now, Miro and Keith Lee are both out. Neither one is available, and some of our big men being out injured, I wanted to have the depth in the field to do the match I originally envisioned and people would enjoy that,”
“Since we didn’t necessarily have the depth and we’re missing some of our big guys to do the Meat Madness multi-man scramble, we have other great stars and rivalries to showcase, so I made it an All-Star Scramble. When we get all of our big men healthy at the same time, I still want to take the Meat Madness concept off the shelf, get it out of the freezer, thaw it out, but until then I put Meat Madness on ice.”
Tony Khan Prepares For Revolution
March 3rd will see AEW present Revolution for the 5th time at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina. The main event will see Sting compete in his final match as he teams with Darby Allin to take on The Young Bucks. With more than 16,000 tickets sold for the event, Khan will be happy with a packed house for the show.
