Tony Khan Clarifies Rules For AEW Casino Gauntlet Cash-In

Tony Khan has officially laid out the terms for the AEW Casino Gauntlet cash-in opportunity, which MJF still holds following the events that took place at Forbidden Door on August 24.

Competing in the penultimate match of the show in London, MJF was unable to dethrone Adam Page despite using just about every underhanded tactic imaginable to try and regain the title once more. Although MJF came up short at Forbidden Door, he still has another shot at the gold that would be executed if he cashed in the Casino Gauntlet opportunity he won back at All In: Texas.

With MJF being very much the heel, many have speculated that the cash-in will be spontaneous, similar to the way that many WWE stars have utilised the Money in the Bank contract. However, according to Khan, this will not be possible anymore.

Tony Khan Says Notice Required For AEW Casino Gauntlet Cash-In

Speaking at the Forbidden Door media scrum, Khan stated that moving forward, the Casino Gauntlet opportunity will require at least one week’s notice for whoever holds the contract. The reason for the update was so that the company could adequately promote the big match and not shortchange the fans:

“I want AEW to be different and I’ve been listening to the feedback and the voice of the fans and I think people want the championships in the sport of pro wrestling to have integrity.” I don’t want to have a big ticket championship match that we are unable to advertise and also I don’t really want to necessarily utilize a stipulation here that’s being utilized other places.”

“That’s why going forward, I want to set the tone that from now on I think the right thing to do is all contract executions should be on at least a week’s notice so we can properly promote the matches, so that we can properly give the fans notice and have the integrity of a championship match.”

At the time of writing, MJF has not announced when he will cash in his opportunity at the World Championship.
