Tony D’Angelo overcame the odds at Stand & Deliver to become the new NXT Champion.
Competing in the main event of the developmental brand’s biggest show of the year, D’Angelo defeated now former champion Joe Hendry, Ethan Page and Ricky Saints in a fatal 4-way match to capture the top title. D’Angelo won the match by sending Page and Saints through the announce table, followed by a spear and Dead to Rights to Hendry to win the match and the title.
The title change brings Hendry’s reign to an end at 61 days. Hendry captured the NXT Championship in a multi-man ladder match after former champion Oba Femi relinquished the title to make his way to the main roster. Femi is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42.
This was the second title change to take place on the show, as Lola Vice won the NXT Women’s Championship in the opening match of the show.
Tony D’Angelo Adds NXT Championship To Record
D’Angelo is now a grand slam champion in NXT, as he is the first person to capture all the titles in NXT. D’Angelo has previously held the North American and Heritage Cup Championships once, along with 2 reigns as Tag Team Champion. Both tag title reigns were with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo.
