Tiffany Stratton has issued a response to the segment with Charlotte Flair on WWE SmackDown that hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
On the April 4th episode of SmackDown, Stratton and Flair appeared live in the ring for their latest war of words ahead of WrestleMania 41, where Stratton will put the Women’s World Championship on the line against Royal Rumble winner Flair.
The segment quickly went off the rails with Flair making fun of Stratton’s voice and being visibly shaken by the heavy boos from the Chicago crowd. Stratton stated that Flair was “the world’s biggest nepo baby”, to which Flair quickly chimed in that she was a “nepo queen.” The segment ended with Stratton bringing up Flair’s divorces with an “0-3” comment and said that she would be alone outside of the ring. Shortly after Stratton stormed out, Flair claimed that the Women’s Champion’s real-life boyfriend Ludwig Kaiser had been in her DMs.
The segment quickly made its way online with the aforementioned controversial lines being edited out of WWE’s YouTube clip. Additionally, backstage reports noted that there was heat on both women over what happened and one source described it as a “wreck.”
Tiffany Stratton Gives Her Side
Speaking with The Babyfaces podcast, Stratton stated that Flair was likely taken by surprise by the Women’s World Champion standing up to her:
“I think being so new to this business, being so new as champion, I don’t think she really expected me to stand up to her. And I don’t think she expected me to, I guess, almost clap back. Look, all I have to say is it’s live TV. People want to see our match, and I think that we did a very good job of getting people wanting to see our match and invested in our story. And now, I’m ready to put on the best women’s match ever, and I’m ready to go to war.”
