"Things Got Heated": Nia Jax Tells The Story Behind Infamous WWE Match Against Charlotte Flair

Nia Jax has looked back on her match against Charlotte Flair on WWE Raw that stunned the fans when it went off script.

On an episode of Raw in August 2021, Jax and Flair faced off in a one-on-one match. The bout was much harder-hitting than fans expected, as those in the arena were stunned in silence and the audience watching at home could tell that there was frustration between the two former Women’s Champions.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Jax was asked about some of her matches that are not talked about as much, to which the SmackDown star discussed her rivalry with Tiffany Stratton before moving on to that Flair match. Admitting there was a miscommunication, Jax added that things got heated and she did hit a legitimate strike onto Flair:

“My match with Charlotte, where we kind of got into a little tiff, a little back and forth there. It was a miscommunication. I will say I’m going to call it a miscommunication. Things got heated, like legit got heated in that match. I did warn her a few times to stop, to chill out, and she didn’t, so then I two-pieced her. We came back and we were calm and we were level-headed, we all kind of were just like, ‘All right, got kind of out of hand.’ But sometimes it happens. But yeah, it just got a little out of hand. It got hot and we just started swinging.”

Jax was asked if they are on good terms now, to which she responded that they are. Continuing the recollection, Jax also added that the fans were so shocked by what they were seeing that she could hear Corey Graves on commentary in the arena. Jax also added that they were able to redeem themselves afterwards:

“Oh, yeah. We’re good. But it was definitely, everybody was like, ‘What just happened?’ Even the crowd, because when it happened in the moment, I couldn’t hear anything because I was angry. I was legit pissed. So I didn’t hear anything. But then when I felt the dead silence of the crowd, I think the crowd was kind of like, ‘Is this really happening?’ I could hear Corey Graves. Commentary is the only thing I could hear because that crowd was dead silent, because I think they were kind of in shock, like, ‘What just happened?’ So, yeah, it was definitely a moment. So that was a match where I’m like ooft. But then we were able to redeem ourselves after that.”

In the same interview, Nia Jax recalled her entry in the Men’s Royal Rumble match in 2019, which saw her take an RKO from Randy Orton.
