John Cena has extremely high praise for the top star in WWE.
Having previously won 16 World Championships and 2 Royal Rumbles along with headlining WrestleMania multiple times, Cena is a major part of the past 20 years of WWE history. WWE clearly agrees with this, as Cena was regularly introduced as “The Greatest of All Time” by ring announcers during his 2023 run in September and October.
While the company sees Cena as one of the all-time greats and few have a professional wrestling resume quite like the Hollywood star, Cena does not accept the accolade. While appearing in the A&E Biography special about Roman Reigns, Cena stated that ever since Reigns debuted his Tribal Chief persona there has been no doubt that he is in a class of his own:
“It is on-the-job training no matter what we learn the most from failure. Roman had his share of knocks and finally just said, ‘F*ck it, I’m doing it my own way,’ and it has been a wrap ever since. it has been, dropped mic. conversation over. There’s nobody like him. He should be compared only to himself.”
John Cena Discusses In-Ring Retirement
Cena has kept an impressive streak going for more than 2 decades, which has seen the 16-time champion compete in at least one match every year since his debut in 2002. However, approaching 50 years of age, Cena is aware that the last match is not too far away. Back in January 2024, John Cena gave more details in regard to his upcoming retirement.
H/t to Fightful.
