Thekla Wins AEW Women's Championship

Thekla is now the new AEW Women’s Champion following a brutal strap match with Kris Statlander.

The match took place on the February 11 broadcast of Dynamite in the main event of the show. Thekla won the match after hitting a spear and stomp onto Statlander following a distraction from the Sisters of Sin. The strap match was a violent one as Statlander was busted open during the contest and bleeding heavily from the head.

After the match, Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter ran down to the ring to make the save and prevent the former Women’s Champion from suffering the continued assault from Triangle of Madness.

The victory brings to an end Statlander’s reign at 145 days. Statlander won the title at All Out 2025 in a 4-way match that also saw Thekla as one of the challengers. Statlander is also the only woman to have held both the AEW Women’s and AEW TBS Championships.

The Era Of Thekla Begins In AEW

While Thekla has previously won gold in the Japanese promotion STARDOM, this is the first time that she has won a championship in All Elite Wrestling. The Toxic Spider signed with the promotion in May 2025, and has been a strong presence on the show since becoming All Elite.
