The Undertaker Responds To Backlash Over Attending Super Bowl With Vince McMahon

The Undertaker

The Undertaker is aware of the fan backlash surrounding his recent public appearance alongside Vince McMahon.

At the Super Bowl on February 9th, Undertaker was seen with Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon at the biggest event on the NFL calendar, where the Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Kansas City Chiefs to win their second Super Bowl title. While NFL fans were focused on the game, wrestling fans were surprised to see McMahon at the game given the ongoing lawsuit which accused the former WWE Chairman of sexual assault and trafficking by former employee Janel Grant.

With Undertaker being spotted with McMahon, many fans have given their thoughts on the decision to attend the game with the former Chairman given the allegations. While speaking on Busted Open Radio, the Hall of Famer said the following on attending the Super Bowl:

“I was his guest, yeah. Look, I’m gonna get hate for that. People are like, ‘Oh you guys were so close, you know what happened,’ I’m like ‘I don’t know what hasn’t been done, we don’t talk about those things.’ But he is a friend of mine. First off, he gave me an opportunity to make something of my life and become something. Through the course of all of those years, we became friends. After my father passed away, he was a father figure, he was a brother, he was a mentor.”

“I don’t know everything that’s happened, what’s gone on, and I’m not the judge on this case. There’s only one judge, that’s the man upstairs. He’s gonna give us all whatever we deserve in the end, and that’s what it is. I think people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones … I don’t have to agree with everything that people do, but it doesn’t change the fact that I love somebody, and I’m friends with somebody.”

The Undertaker Remains Close With Vince McMahon

Signing with WWE in 1990, The Deadman remained loyal to the company and to McMahon for 30 years despite the uncertainty in the mid-90s following the rise of WCW. Following his retirement in 2020, The Undertaker was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Vince McMahon in what was a rare gesture by the former Chairman. In the years since, Undertaker has been spotted with McMahon numerous times.
