The Undertaker Discusses Recent Cody Rhodes Segment On WWE TV

The Undertaker

The Undertaker has addressed the recent controversy surrounding the WrestleMania main event.

Sending the internet into a frenzy, Cody Rhodes announced to Roman Reigns on the February 2nd episode of SmackDown that he would not be facing The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania. Instead, The Rock would make a surprise appearance and confront Reigns, seemingly setting up the dream match for WrestleMania 40. While many would love to see the match in isolation, the timing angered some fans online.

Addressing the segment on Six Feet Under, The Phenom admitted that he had a sense of dread when Rhodes addressed Reigns with his WrestleMania plans:

“I wanted to hear Cody’s promo. It was great. It was so good and I was so invested. When he said, ‘… just not at WrestleMania,’ my freaking heart sunk into my stomach because I knew at that moment what was about to happen,” he said. “Believe me, money-wise, having The Rock at WrestleMania, brother, come on, against Roman who has been Champion for what, 13 years now? Samoan versus Samoan. It’s huge and it is what it is.”

The Undertaker Expresses Sympathy For Cody Rhodes

Later on in the podcast, Taker respected Rhodes for handling the segment how he did given the circumstances. Additionally, Undertaker admitted that he has also had similar moments in his own career and is aware of what it feels like:

“Knowing and being in that situation a couple of times myself during my career, for Cody to go out and to deliver the promo that he delivered last night, I felt for him. I felt that not in my stomach because, like I said, I had been there before and he did it like a champ. He did it so professionally.”

The podcast was recorded before the WrestleMania press conference, which saw Cody Rhodes make his WrestleMania decision.
