The Undertaker has spoken out on the rumour that he played a role in Mickie James being removed from season 2 of WWE LFG, as the replacement was his wife Michelle McCool.
WWE LFG [Legends and Future Greats] sees aspiring wrestlers look to start their journey to becoming a WWE superstar by competing for an NXT contract while also being coached by legends. The season 1 coaches were Undertaker, Mickie James, Bully Ray and Booker T. Shortly before season 1 concluded, it was announced via press release that season 2 had been greenlit and would premiere on June 22nd.
Although the announcement was expected given the popularity of the show, fans were surprised to see the change in line-up on the coaching side, with recent Hall of Fame inductee Michelle McCool replacing Mickie James. McCool had made a few guest appearances in the first season but will commit to the full second season. With fans well aware that McCool is the wife of The Undertaker, many incorrectly theorised that Undertaker played a role in the switch.
While speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri, Undertaker and McCool first joked that backstage politics were the reason for the switch before adding that scheduling was the real reason:
Undertaker: “Well, contrary to what people believe, a lot of people on the — what do they call it?”
McCool: “We’re very sarcastic by nature, that’s why I had to watch — I was gonna say, of course, my husband, he gets me everything. That’s what I was gonna say.”
Undertaker: “Yes. I got Mickie (James) fired so I could bring her in… And since we’re already down the lane because I would never address it any other place but, you get the scoop. It was like, when I was presented the opportunity to be a coach, she was presented the opportunity at the same time. We couldn’t do it together because of (our) kids. It was too much and that’s why she had the few spots on season one (of WWE LFG). We were trying to figure out schedules and what it would be like. If she was to do season two, we get it worked out…”

In a previous interview, The Undertaker revealed that he recently underwent heart surgery.
