Finally, The Rock will compete once again at WrestleMania.
As seen on the March 8th episode of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins accepted The People Champion’s challenge from the previous week. The tag team match will see Rock team with Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on night 1 of WrestleMania 40. If Rhodes and Rollins win, Rhodes’ match with Reigns on night 2 will be free of Bloodline interference. However, if The Bloodline wins, night 2 will be Bloodline rules, meaning that anything goes.
Reigns entered first followed by Rock, who had a new, electrifying entrance for the Texas crowd. The Bloodline were quickly interrupted by Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, who made their entrance through the crowd. Rhodes referenced the challenge and what was at stake at WrestleMania before questioning Rock’s authority and if he actually had the power to make this kind of match.
The Hollywood star quickly shut Rhodes down once again before repeating the stipulations. Rollins shut Rock down before accepting the match, calling Rock “Mr. Midlife Crisis” in the process. Reigns reminded Rhodes that Mania would be his final opportunity to finish his story. Rock called Rhodes’ birth a mistake and Rhodes slapped Rock as the show went off the air.
This will be The Great One’s first major WWE match since WrestleMania 29, where Rock lost to John Cena in a rematch from the previous year.
