Fans down under expecting a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns to take place in their home country are going to be disappointed.
Following on from The Rock making his shock return to WWE, fans understandably had many questions. With Cody Rhodes seeming to be a lock for a rematch with The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40, some assumed that The Great One being back would make plans change drastically.
An alternative theory that was discussed was what if Rock vs. Reigns didn’t actually take place at Mania but at the event before, Elimination Chamber. Following Perth securing the rights to the event a report was published that stated that they requested the Hollywood megastar to appear.
The dream was crushed for thousands in the latest update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer has stated that Reigns has never been advertised to appear at the Australian event and if this match does take place, it will be at WrestleMania:
Regarding the Reigns vs. Rock match, while I presume it’s WrestleMania (and could possibly be a three-way with Rhodes but I don’t think that will come out until many weeks from now), what we did have confirmed is the Australia rumors aren’t accurate. Reigns is not even scheduled for the show. He’s never been advertised and there are no plans for him for that date right now
What’s Next For The Rock & Roman Reigns?
In regards to The People’s Champion, Rock has previously teased that big things are coming in the future. In regards to a future appearance, expect it to be unannounced like the previous 2. Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed Championship against AJ Styles, Randy Orton and LA Knight at the Royal Rumble in a 4-Way match after interfering in the number one contenders match at the New Year’s Revolution special.
