The Rock and Roman Reigns triumphed over Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on WrestleMania night 1, setting up a monumental challenge for Rhodes on night 2.
Asserting their dominance in front of a packed Philadelphia crowd, Rock and Reigns stood tall over the challengers in what was Rock’s first major WWE match since WrestleMania 29, which saw The People’s Champion lose to John Cena in a rematch from the previous year.
Starting out in a more traditional style, the match quickly descended into chaos with fights spilling out into the crowd and to the top of the entrance ramp. Despite being out of the ring for over a decade, Rock still looked great in the ring and barely missed a step. Back in the ring and Rock and Reigns took control, targeting Rollins’ knee to isolate the World Heavyweight Champion. Throughout the match, Rock would constantly remind the referee that he was on the TKO Board of Directors, meaning he could bend the rules.
Towards the end of the match, it appeared that Rhodes and Rollins might do it as Reigns accidentally speared Rock, which was followed by dual Pedigrees. However, The Bloodline would survive. With Rollins speared through the barricade, Rhodes was left alone and at the mercy of The Bloodline. As Rhodes hit 2 Cross Rhodes on Reigns, Rock struck the American Nightmare with the weightlifting belt to lead to a spear, Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow for the win.
As a result of the victory, Rhodes’s match against Roman Reigns in the main event of night 2 will be Bloodline rules, meaning that anything goes and all interference from the rest of the Bloodline is permitted.
The Rock Looks To End The Story
Ever since The People’s Champion returned on New Year’s Day, he has made it clear that he wanted a match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. However, with Cody Rhodes winning the Royal Rumble and expressing his right as the winner to pick his champion of choice, the Hollywood star and TKO Board member became irate with Rhodes for ruining his plans of a Bloodline mega match. Ever since Rhodes ruined The Bloodline’s plans, Rock has done everything possible to make Rhodes’s life as miserable as possible.
