Although he has discussed and turned down the possibility multiple times, The Rock is still asked about the likelihood of one day running for the most powerful position on the planet, the President of the United States.
More than just known as a pro wrestler thanks to his successful career in Hollywood that has been going on for more than 2 decades. Closing in on 400 million followers on Instagram and with brands in the fitness, tequila, and energy drink world among his many empires, to say that Dwayne Johnson has significant influence would be an understatement. With this in mind, the Hollywood star has previously stated that representatives from both parties have approached him about a potential political career. Although the idea seemed bizarre at one point in time, the political game in the United States over the past decades has proved that anything is possible when it comes to becoming the leader of the free world.
“We’ll See”: The Rock On Possible Presidential Run
While speaking with Variety to promote his upcoming movie The Smashing Machine, which documents the life of MMA fighter Mark Kerr and has already been heavily praised by critics, Rock was asked at the end of the interview about one day running for President:
It’s wild, man. I’m always honored when people ask that. I love what I do. I love storytelling. But yeah… we’ll see.
It should be noted that The Rock was the winner of a 2021 poll to see who they would like to run for President in the next election, beating out major names including Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey.
