The Miz vs. Edge Announced For WWE Day 1

A new match has been officially announced for the upcoming WWE pay-per-view, Day 1. At the New Year’s Day event, The Miz will face Edge in a return to the ring for both competitors.

Edge made a return to Raw following a short hiatus after the Crown Jewel pay-per-view. The Rated R Superstar talked about who he wanted to face next, but was interrupted by The Miz, who also made a return to WWE following competing on Dancing With The Stars.

A Miz TV segment took place on the December 6th edition of Monday Night Raw. The war of words referenced the history between Edge and The Miz, including The A Lister being kicked out of the locker room shortly after his 2006 debut. Edge responded by saying that he supported The Miz back then, but Miz brushed this off.

Following the argument, The Miz challenged Edge to a match at Day 1, to which the Hall of Famer accepted. Unlike some of Edge’s matches following the surprise return, The Miz and Edge have faced off before. Back in 2011, The Miz and Edge faced off in a champion vs. champion match on Raw.

The current announced card for Day 1 is as follows:

  • Big E (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens – Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship.
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Brock Lesnar – Singles match for the Universal Championship.
  • The Usos (c) vs. Kofi Kingston and King Woods – Tag team match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
  • The Miz vs. Edge
