With shock debuts, returns and cameos, expect some surprises at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble.
Even though the event is set to take place in Saudi Arabia for the first time ever on January 31, the company are still confident that they can keep the big names under wraps and avoid fans spoiling the surprise. Additionally, Triple H has stated in an interview that “a lot of surprises” are planned for the show.
While those who have dreamed big are hoping to see the likes of Chris Jericho and Saraya make their WWE returns, others are hoping to see Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins return from injury, or the likes of LA Knight and Tiffany Stratton return from hiatus as their road to WrestleMania begins.
Ahead of the show, a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has listed some of the biggest names expected to make shock appearances, and how likely it is that they will be appearing at the Premium Live Event in Riyadh.
What Surprises Are Expected For WWE Royal Rumble 2026?
- Chris Jericho – Easily the biggest expected surprise for the event, as there have been persistent rumours that the first-ever AEW World Champion has now left the promotion. However, at the time of writing, Jericho is still listed on the AEW roster page. Previous updates to the page have shown that the company are very particular when it comes to removing names, only waiting until their contracts have expired.
- LA Knight – Is scheduled to make his return from hiatus after being written off by The Vision. Fans in Saudi Arabia have also seen giant “Yeah!” signs being transported.
- Powerhouse Hobbs – Another former AEW name expected to make an appearance on the show, it has been previously reported by Fightful Select that Hobbs has signed a WWE deal, and could debut under a new name. Hobbs was not on the charter plane with the rest of the roster.
- Tiffany Stratton – WrestleVotes Radio previously reported that Stratton is expected to be a part of the event.
- Saraya – The British wrestler and former AEW star was scheduled for a convention up until last week. The convention in question was moved back a week due to double booking a venue, so it was a situation where she cancelled to be in the Rumble. However, it is noted as a possibility.
- Kevin Owens – He was not medically cleared by WWE as of the weekend of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Following the report, it has also been announced that he would be hosting a Royal Rumble watch party at a Dave & Busters in Orlando.
- Seth Rollins – Still recovering from surgery, Rollins has stated that he won’t be a part of the Royal Rumble.
- Michin – Is still sidelined with an injury that took place in a match against Jade Cargill. Michin has also been announced to appear alongside Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble watch party. Michin announced this on social media.
- Sol Ruca – Is expected to be in Saudi Arabia for the Rumble, along with other NXT talent that will be surprise entrants
