The Judgment Day hold more gold.
As seen at the Payback Premium Live Event, Finn Balor and Damian Priest are the new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, ending the reign of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
The numbers game ultimately proved to be too much for Owens and Zayn, with the title match effectively becoming a 5 on 2 match. However, as the match was a Steel City Street Fight, Owens and Zayn were helpless to the disadvantage.
Taking advantage of the no-disqualification stipulation, weapons were used early on. The first interference came when Dominik Mysterio attacked Owens and Zayn while the brawl was in the crowd. Owens and Zayn would then emerge wearing Pittsburgh Penguins jerseys to massive applause from the crowd in attendance. Mysterio was then taken out as Owens dove from the top of a crowd platform onto Mysterio onto a table.
Back in the ring, Zayn looked to have the match won but then the second interference came, which saw JD McDonagh pull Zayn out of the ring. Owens slammed McDonagh onto the announce table to neutralise the interference. Shortly afterwards, Rhea Ripley stormed to the ring and Speared Owens through the barricade.
The match ended when Mysterio returned to strike Zayn with the Money in the Bank briefcase so Balor could cover Zayn to win the match and the titles.
The victory makes Balor a Grand Slam champion in WWE. This is also Priest’s first reign as Tag Team Champion.
The victory also means that all 4 members of the group walked out of Pittsburgh as champions.
