The Former WWE Star Kevin Owens Believes Is El Grande Americano

Kevin Owens believes he has solved the mystery of WWE star El Grande Americano’s identity.

The masked wrestler first made his debut on the March 23rd episode of Raw in Glasgow, Scotland. Continuing to find success, the WWE star has picked up a number of high-profile victories over the following months, including a win over Rey Fenix in his WrestleMania debut and coming close to winning Money in the Bank at the start of the year.

Fans have gotten behind Grande Americano and have also continued to speculate on his identity. While announcer Michael Cole and some fans believe it to be Chad Gable given the similar size and mannerisms, others have played along with the joke and suggested more outlandish theories as to who could be the man behind the mask.

Making an appearance at Fanatics Live in New York, Owens was asked about the raw star and if he thinks it is Gable, to which the former Universal Champion offered up another name in response:

“No, I don’t. I think it’s Elias,”

No stranger to mistaken identity storylines, Owens feuded with Elias’ brother Ezekiel in 2022. While Owens was adamant that it was Elias, everyone else thought otherwise, causing Owens to snap and attack Ezekiel to write him off TV. Elias was released from his WWE contract in September 2023, and now wrestles for TNA under the name Elijah.

WWE Star Kevin Owens Still Awaiting Neck Surgery

Shortly after Elimination Chamber, Owens let the fans know that he required neck surgery so would be unable to compete in his WrestleMania match against Randy Orton. In an interview in May 2025, Kevin Owens stated that he was still waiting to have neck surgery, despite what had been reported previously.

Features of Wrestling continues to wish Kevin Owens all the best as he awaits surgery.
