Samoa Joe is now a 2-time AEW World Champion following the shocking end to his title match at Full Gear.
In the main event of the November 22 pay-per-view, The Samoan Submission Machine defeated Adam Page thanks to help from HOOK, who turned heel in the closing moments to reunite with The Opps.
Page hit the Buckshot Lariat onto Joe, but there was no referee to make the count. HOOK then ran to the ring and tried to revive the referee, but picked up the World Title shortly after. As Page made his way to his feet, HOOK struck the now former champion in the ejad with the ttile, allowing Joe to hit the Muscle Buster and win the match for the second time in his career.
Both men bled heavily early on, and interference took place throughout, as Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs tried to give Joe the advantage. However, Eddie Kingston neutralised Shibata, and Page took out Hobbs.
The victory by Joe brings Page’s reign to an end at 133 days. Page won the title back at All In: Texas when he defeated Jon Moxley in the main event. Joe previously won the title back at Full Gear 2023, where he brought to an end MJF’s record-breaking reign that lasted over a year.
Samoa Joe Confronted By Former Rival After AEW World Title Win
As The Opps and their students celebrated the victory, the lights went out in the arena. The camera then panned to the entrance ramp, where Prince Nana was standing, waiting. Shortly afterwards, Swerve Strickland’s music hit and the former World Champion made his way to the ring to clear out The Opps and the students.
The closing shot of the show saw Strickland and Page stand side by side as a bloody Joe made his way to the back. Strickland defeated Samoa Joe at Dynasty 2024 to win the World Championship for the fist time in his career.
