Samoa Joe Wins AEW World Championship; Identity Of The Devil Revealed

Samoa Joe Wins AEW Championship

Samoa Joe has dethroned the one plus year reign of MJF.

In the main event of the Worlds End pay-per-view, Joe defeated MJF in the former World Champion’s hometown of Long Island.

Joe won his first World Championship in AEW by placing a sleeper hold onto MJF, with the Long Island native’s hand dropping 3 times to signify that he was unconscious.

After the match, The Devil’s henchmen came to the ring to attack MJF and Adam Cole, who was ringside throughout the match. The lights went out and came back on to reveal that Adam Cole was The Devil and his associates were Wardlow, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett.

As reported by Fightful Select, MJF is expected to take an extended leave of absence to heal up from multiple injuries sustained towards the end of the year.

Samoa Joe To Unveil New Championship Design

For over a year, MJF has used a custom AEW Championship to represent his reign. With a Burberry design on the leather, MJF referred to the title as the Triple B. Speaking in the post-show press conference, Joe confirmed that this design will be retired:

This [Triple B AEW World Title] is going in the garbage, don’t worry about that. This trash right here, this little knockoff, BS Gucci stuff that he has going on, this is going away. We’re getting the good belt, the right belt, something that is designed well. I’ve spoken with Tony intensively about it and we’re very much looking forward to it. We have a whole new era we’re starting,”
