Sammy Guevara defeated Cody Rhodes in a ladder match to become the Undisputed holder of the TNT Championship.
The ladder match, which took place all over the ringside area and into the crowd, took place on the Beach Break special edition of AEW Dynamite, which took place on January 26th. The match itself was filled with multiple high spots. Most memorably, Guevara jumped from one ladder to hit a cutter onto Rhodes, who was standing on another ladder.
The conclusion of the match came when both men were brawling on the top of a ladder. Guevara would strike Rhodes with one of the championships, sending the former TNT Champion to the floor. The Spanish God would then grab both championships to become the Undisputed TNT Champion.
The victory at Beach Break now makes Sammy Guevara a 3 time TNT Champion. Guevara first held the gold by defeating Miro back in September 2021. Cody Rhodes would go on to defeat Sammy on the Christmas Day edition of Rampage, also earning a third reign with the TNT Title. Rhodes was due to defend the title at the Battle of the Belts special, but was unable to compete due to medical reasons. As a result of this, Guevara battled Cody’s brother Dustin to crown an interim TNT Champion, in which Sammy Guevara was victorious. Following Cody being cleared to compete, the unification match at Beach Break was made official.
