Ricochet will not be renewing his contract with WWE and is set to become a free agent.
With multiple WWE stars seeing their deals coming to an end in 2024, most have elected to re-sign with the company to lucrative new deals. However, as reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the former United States Champion has given notice that he will be exiting WWE when his contract expires. Additionally, Ricochet is expected to be written out of storylines imminently to tie up any loose ends before the exit.
Nicknamed the Highlight of the Night, Ricochet’s high-flying style made him a fan favourite in WWE and would frequently go viral on social media for his acrobatic and innovative spots. Currently reigning as the WWE Speed Champion, Ricochet lost the title to Andrade in a taping that took place after the June 7th episode of SmackDown went off the air. With stars such as Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes all choosing to remain with WWE, Ricochet’s decision has come as somewhat of a shock. One source within the company told PWInsider that the high-flyer has been given “all the credit in the world for betting on himself.”
Unsurprisingly, the Raw star is expected to be very sought after as a free agent. Ricochet’s match against Will Ospreay in NJPW was one of the most celebrated but also most divisive due to the high-flying style that more traditional wrestling fans criticised.
When Will Ricochet Become A Free Agent?
No reports have given a specific date as to when the former Intercontinental Champion will see his contract expire. The only indication has been a previous report that revealed that Ricochet would reach the end of his contract sometime in the summer.
