WWE NXT star Ricky Saints has responded to the fan chants that are in reference to his time in AEW.
Following his arrival on NXT, Saints has been booked strongly as he has been competing regularly and is also the current North American Champion. Saints is also making up for lost time as he was off AEW TV for the best part of a year despite not being injured and no one really knowing the reason for the extended absence.
With Saints quickly becoming one of the most popular acts on NXT, the fans have chanted “Tony fumbled” on multiple occasions, a reference to AEW owner Tony Khan and how the fans feel that Khan missed out on the opportunity to capitalise on the former Ricky Saints.
Speaking with Good Karma Wrestling, Saints was asked about the chant, stating that he didn’t want to focus on the past or putting someone down:
“My reaction is — it’s not about what happened in the past,” he said. “It’s about like, let’s focus on now and my work that I’m doing now. I appreciate the sentiment that they care about me and have opinions about the situation, but, you know, let’s not put somebody else down.”
Ricky Saints To Defend North American Title At Stand & Deliver
Saints will next be in action at NXT Stand & Deliver, where he will put the title on the line against Ethan Page, who left AEW in 2024 and made his NXT debut in May of that year.
