WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has given recognition to one former wrestler who he believes should have been given a bigger push while a part of the company.
One of the most decorated wrestlers in professional wrestling history, The Nature Boy famously held the World Championship 16 times, a record that stood for more than 3 decades until it was broken by John Cena at WrestleMania 41 back in April 2025.
Regarded as one of the greatest of all time by many fans and wrestlers alike, Flair was given the opportunities and featured prominently due to his mix of in-ring ability and passionate promo skills that saw him achieve success multiple times over.
Although Flair and many of his peers rose to the top of the card, others were unable to win the big one despite the fact that they were great technical wrestlers. While speaking with The Escapist Magazine back in September, Flair noted that Steve [William] Regal was a great wrestler who never got the success he should have:
“Another good technical wrestler is Steve Regal. Very good. Very technical. He never really got the push he deserved. But, Steve is an excellent technical wrestler and, and on top of that, a great guy,”
British wrestler Regal first broke into the wrestling industry in his hometown of Blackpool before signing with WCW and later in WWE. Although he found success in both companies by winning the European and Television Championships multiple times over, he was never a World Champion, which many fans believe should have been the case, especially in the UK.
Could WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair See His Story Told On The Big Screen?
With stories about Flair’s time in and out of the ring becoming folklore among wrestling fans, many would be curious to see how a biopic on the WWE Hall of Famer would play out. Although there have been no further updates at the time of writing, it was announced back in February 2024 that The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions would be developing the Flir biopic.
