Rey Mysterio Misses WrestleMania 41, Replacement Named

Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio was unfortunately unable to compete at WrestleMania 41, meaning that his match was changed.

The Hall of Famer was originally set to face off against El Grande Americano at The Show of Shows following animosity between the two over the past few weeks. However, Rey Mysterio seemingly suffered an injury on the final episode of SmackDown, meaning that his match was in doubt for the show.

On the kick-off show before WrestleMania, Michael Cole announced that Mysterio was unable to be in action for the show, leading to recent signee Rey Fenix being named as the replacement opponent. Additionally, it was announced that WWE had acquired the promotion AAA with Vikingo being seated in the front row.

The match saw El Grande Americano win with the help of a loaded mask and diving headbutt.

Rey Mysterio Misses WrestleMania

The update was a crushing blow for Mysterio and the fans as the Hall of Famer has been in action at many Manias over the years and also won the World Championship at the event back in 2006. At the time of writing, it is unknown how long Mysterio will be out of action for.

Features of Wrestling would like to wish Rey Mysterio a full and speedy recovery.
