With WWE retirements being the talk of the wrestling world, R-Truth has also given the fans an update on when his time in the ring will end.
Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 was the site of John Cena’s final match, which saw the 17-time World Champion submit to Gunther to bring his in-ring career to a close. With many members of the WWE roster now in their 40s, fans are aware that the veterans do not have a lot of time left in the ring, meaning that many more retirement matches look set to take place over the next couple of years.
While speaking on the Saturday Night’s Main Event post-show, Truth, 53, admitted that although he still feels like he can still go, his next deal could be his last:
“I always like to say, I steal this from The Rock, I let pain in my body be my guide as far as when it’s time for me to go. Right now, I still feel good. I’ve thought about it. As you know, I just renewed my deal, so this could be the last one. We all have to have that time. We all have to get off the ride at some point.”
The former Tag Team Champion was infamously released earlier in the year, prompting widespread fan outcry demanding his reinstatement. At Money in the Bank, Truth made his shocking return to get revenge on John Cena after he was attacked by his childhood hero the previous month. Shortly afterwards, news broke that Truth had signed a new deal.
Debuting back in 1999, Ron “The Truth” Killings has had runs in NWA, WWE and TNA throughout his career, which has seen him compete in more than 1,800 matches at the time of writing.
R-Truth Had Memorable Moment At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Although Truth did not have a match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he was part of a memorable segment just before the main event took place. After The Miz protested that he never got his Cena match despite their history, Truth interrupted and let Miz know he cost Joe Hendry an opportunity in The Last Time is Now tournament. After Miz said Hendry’s name, the NXT star appeared, which led to Hendry and Truth standing tall over Miz when all was said and done.
