Positive Update On AEW Star MJF

MJF could be approaching a return very soon.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been absent from AEW TV since he lost the World Championship to Samoa Joe at Worlds End back in December 2023. Playing into his ‘bidding war of 2024’ storyline, the former World Champion has also been removed from the AEW roster page and has been pretty much silent on social media while sidelined with injury. According to a new report, fans may not have to wait much longer until he is back.

As reported by Fightful Select, there have been discussions in regard to the AEW star making his return onscreen. Several sources have also noted that they expect MJF back “sooner than later” with Forbidden Door being the projected date, possibly sooner.

What’s The Latest On MJF’s AEW Contract?

Despite the fact that the former World Champion was open about the fact that his AEW deal expired on January 1st 2024, it is widely regarded that he signed an extension before this date as it was also quietly dropped from being referenced on AEW TV. Fightful also adds that MJF got an extension shortly after Double or Nothing 2022, where the AEW star no showed a meet and greet ahead of time and was unsure to be in attendance for the show itself. The former World Champion is also one of the highest earners in the company.

Prior to losing the championship at Worlds End, MJF was dealing with a number of injuries and was rumoured to be sidelined for a year due to shoulder surgery. Fightful also adds that they have not heard anything regarding shoulder surgery being carried out.
