An update has been provided on the rumoured WWE Premium Live Event scheduled to take place in September, which looks set to go head-to-head with AEW All Out.
At the time of writing, AEW has already confirmed that All Out will take place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, marking the return of the core event that first took place back in 2019. Over the past few weeks, rumours have begun circulating that WWE is looking to counterprogram AEW once again, but this time with a main roster PLE as opposed to an NXT show or Saturday Night’s Main Event special. Back in July, WWE presented Goldberg’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on the same day as All In: Texas and also aired NXT’s Great American Bah at the same time as AEW’s biggest show of the year.
On August 17, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that the currently unnamed show could air on ESPN in the United States ahead of the new deal that will begin in 2026, which will see all PLEs broadcast on the platform domestically moving forward. The report adds that the show could serve as “a preview of the type of programming WWE will bring to that new partnership when it officially kicks off in April 2026”, while also noting that there is not currently an event scheduled on the Peacock calendar in September.
While ESPN declined to comment on the update, an official announcement is expected to take place later in the week.
WWE September Show To Play Into Nostalgia?
An additional update on the show was reported by WrestleVotes, who posted on social media that fans should expect to see a Wrestlepalooza on September 20.
Wrestlepalooza was the name of an ECW pay-per-view that took place in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2000. The main event of the final show saw Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman and New Jack defeat The Network [Steve Corino, Jack Victory and Yoshihiro Tajiri] in a street fight.
