Original Jey Uso Plans For WWE SummerSlam 2025

Former World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso was originally set to be part of a slightly different match at WWE SummerSlam 2025.

Following multiple altercations with Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, Uso found an ally in the returning Roman Reigns, who came to Uso’s aid on the July 14 edition of WWE Raw. Attacking Breakker and Reed to stand tall, it was later set up that Reigns and Uso would team up at SummerSlam to face the heel duo in New Jersey. However, according to a new report, Uso was originally set to compete in a singles match at the biggest part of the summer.

Jey Uso Match Changed For WWE SummerSlam

Discussing the go-home Raw on Wrestling Observer Radiowhich will see Uso take on Reed to build to the match, Dave Meltzer stated that Uso vs. Reed was the original SummerSlam plan:

“Bronson Reed and Jey Uso was originally a SummerSlam match.”

Continuing, Meltzer added that he expects to see the match quickly break down to present the final build to the upcoming match at the weekend:

“I presume that this will just end up being something where Roman Reigns and Bron Breakker end up interfering.”

The match will be Reigns’ first since the main event of WrestleMania 41 night one, which saw Paul Heyman betray the OTC to side with Seth Rollins. Reigns was written off TV on the next Raw after being attacked by Breakker.

Uso win the World Heavyweight Championship in the opening match of WrestleMania weekend by defeating Gunther, losing the title back to The Ring General at the start of June.
