Oba Femi Addresses Possibility Of Becoming A Champion In WWE

WWE star Oba Femi is feeling confident about becoming a champion in the company now that he is on the main roster.

After dominating NXT, The Ruler is now a part of WWE’s main roster, and has been predominantly featured on the Raw brand in recent weeks. Given Femi’s power and popularity among the fans, many feel that it is only a matter of time before the 27-year-old picks up his first major accolade since his call-up, adding to his resume of being a former NXT and NXT North American Champion.

While speaking with SHAK Wrestling, Femi responded that there is a high chance he will win a major WWE title, noting that other rising stars such as Bron Breakker and Dominik Mysterio have also found success within the promotion:

“I think the odds are very high. They’re stacked in my favor. Like, I said, I’m young, I’m spry, I’m ready to go. I’m hungry — hungrier than a lot of these 47-year-olds, I’ll tell you that,” Femi said. “So I think we’re going to see that happen very soon, because it’s not just me. It’s me, it’s Bron [Breakker], it’s Dominik [Mysterio]. There’s so much going on right now when it comes to the young talent.”

Well, it’s very good because at the end of the day, those older guys are doing their thing — they’re killing it — but at the same time, Father Time always wins. A lot of them are 44, 45, 46. They’re on their way out. They have one foot out the door.

Femi also spoke about his work on the developmental brand and how it relates to his current run:

So this is the time for someone like ‘The Ruler’ to come in, take their place, and fulfill that destiny. I’ve built trust with them. I’ve built equity in NXT with everything I did with the NXT Championship — all those classic matches I had. I feel like when they’ve seen the body of work, they’re like, ‘Okay, we have something here.’ So I think it’s good that they’re putting that trust in me because I think it’s well deserved.

Oba Femi Set For Major WrestleMania Debut Against Former WWE Champion

On the March 16 episode of Raw, Femi made a statement while also confirming his match for WrestleMania 42, which will also be his first time competing at the biggest show of the year. Interrupting a confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins, Femi made his way to the ring and laid out Lesnar with a powerbomb. It was later confirmed that Lesnar vs. Femi would be taking place at Mania in April.
