Main Event & More Announced For NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19

NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 took place on Saturday, January 4th at the Tokyo Dome.

The biggest show of the year for New Japan, the main event saw IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. put the title on the line against Shota Umino in what will be his first Wrestle Kindom appearance as the champion. Additionally, New Japan President Hiroshi Tanahashi continued his retirement tour that will culminate at Wrestle Kingdom 20 the following year.

Other title matches announced for the show included Mayu Iwatani putting the IWGP Women’s Championship on the line against AZM and NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi facing off against AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita with both titles at stake.

  • Hirooki Goto won the New Japan Ranbo to become the new number one contender to the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

  • Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita defeated Kevin Knight and Kushida, TJP and Francesco Akira & Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney in a Four-way Tokyo Terror ladder match to become the new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions
  • Mayu Iwatani defeated AZM to retain the IWGP Women’s Championship
  • El Phantasmo defeated Ren Narita, Jeff Cobb, and Ryohei Oiwa to become the new NJPW World Television Champion
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated EVIL in a lumberjack match
  • Konosuke Takeshita defeated Shingo Takagi to become the new NEVER Openweight Champion
  • El Desperado defeated Douki to become the new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion
