Nia Jax has added Queen of the Ring to her WWE accolades.
The finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament took place at the Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia, which saw Jax defeat recent NXT call-up Lyra Valkyria. Jax defeated Naomi, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair to make it to the final while Valkryia defeated Dakota Kai, Zoey Stark and Iyo Sky to advance.
The match itself saw Jax dominate from the outset but Valkyria valiantly fought back and took advantage when Jax missed the Annihilator. Valkyria hit a top rope leg drop but Jax kicked out at the last second. As Valkyria attempted a powerbomb in the corner, Jax finally hit the Annihilator to win the match and be crowned the new Queen of the Ring. with the crown presented by Triple H.
Jax is the second woman to win the Queen of the Ring tournament in WWE history. The first was Zelina Vega back in 2021, which was then known as the Queen’s Crown tournament. The former Women’s and Women’s Tag Team Champion continues her impressive run since making her return to the company back in September, which also saw Jax challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship in front of a packed Perth Stadium at Elimination Chamber.
Nia Jax Receives Major Prize
For the first time in a number of years, the winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments have received more than a crown and sceptre. Speaking at a press event a few days before the King and Queen of the Ring PLE, Triple H confirmed that the new king and queen would go on to SummerSlam to challenge for their respective brand’s World Championship. SummerSlam 2024 will take place in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3rd.
