An unfortunate change to the AEW All In card took place that saw a new TNT Champion crowned following the update provided by Adam Cole.
Prior to the pay-per-view taking place, Tony Khan announced on social media that Cole was not cleared to compete and that the title had been vacated, meaning that the originally advertised match between Cole and Kyle Fletcher was off. Instead, a 4-way match took place between Dustin Rhodes, Kyle Fletcher, Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara to determine a new champion, which was won by Rhodes.
Appearing before the match, Cole appeared in the ring and apologised for letting the fans down. Cole also stated that he was going to be “gone for a while” and got emotional many times throughout his promo. The former TNT Champion also thanked the fans if this was goodbye and added “I will love you forever.” Cole was then joined by an equally emotional Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong.
While the nature of the injury is unknown, it was stated on commentary that Cole suffered the injury on the July 10 episode of Collision.
Adam Cole Sees TNT Title Reign Come To Abrupt End
The announcement brings Cole’s reign to an end at 97 days, which was also his first AEW title. Cole won the championship back at Dynasty by defeating Daniel Garcia. This is also the second time that the championship has been vacated following Adam Copeland breaking his leg back at AEW Double or Nothing 2024.
Cole has sadly dealt with numerous injuries since arriving in AEW back in September 2021, most notably at Grand Slam 2023 when he shattered his ankle when falling off the entrance ramp.
