A title change has taken place at AEW Forbidden Door as The Hurt Syndicate have been dethroned as Tag Team Champions.
After the champions were taken out of the match in the closing stages, Brandido and Brody King emerged victorious to capture the titles for the first time in their careers. While Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin were dominant throughout the match, Ricochet and The Gates of Agony took advantage of the no DQ stipulation to attack the champions, rendering the match a contest between the 2 challengers.
The end of the match saw Brodido hit the assisted 450 onto Dax Harwood, with Cash Wheeler unable to make the save for his tag team partner. While Brody King has previously held the Trios Titles with The House of Black, this marks his first reign as Tag Team Champion. Bandido is also the reigning Ring of Honor World Champion.
The Hurt Syndicate No Longer AEW Tag Team Champions
Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin have seen their reign come to an end at 214 days. The former WWE stars defeated Private Party back in January to win the titles for the first time in their careers, which was also Lashley’s first ever Tag Title reign in his pro wrestling career. A tournament was held to determine the new number one contenders for Forbidden Door, but as Brodido and FTR went to a time limit draw on the go-home Dynamite, the match was made into a triple threat.
