A career-threatening match has been added to the WWE Royal Rumble 2026 card.
On the January 19 episode of Raw, Gunther kicked off the show and gloated about his win over AJ Styles the previous week. Styles interrupted and demanded a rematch at the Rumble, only for Gunther to say no. Following a back-and-forth, Gunther finally agreed to one more match, provided that Styles put his career on the line. Later in the night, Styles agreed to the conditions.
The Gunther vs. Styles match joins the Men’s and Women’s Rumble matches and Drew McIntyre’s first title defence as part of the Premium Live Event, which is set to take place for the 39th time on January 31. The show will air live from Saudi Arabia for the first time in the history of the event.
WWE Royal Rumble 2026 Updated Line-Up:
- Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Sami Zayn or Damian Priest or Randy Orton or Trick Williams – Singles match for the WWE Championship
- AJ Styles vs. Gunther – If AJ Styles loses then he must retire

The 2026 Royal Rumble will air live on ESPN in the United States and on Netflix in select international markets.
