Further details have come to light regarding the somewhat surprising departure of Andrade from WWE just over 18 months after his return to the company.
On September 13, news broke that the former United States Champion had left the company after fans had noticed that he had also been moved to the alumni section of the promotion’s website, which has been a frequent sign over the years that a wrestler is officially gone from WWE.
The following day, Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI provided more information on the departure, noting that it was not a mutual decision. Alba states that Andrade was released from his contract, adding that the reason was due to a disciplinary reason. The report adds that the former WWE star had a company wellness policy violation against him, but it is unclear whether or not that was the direct reason for the exit. However, Andrade was suspended without pay as a result of the violation.
Alba also notes that the former NXT Champion has not been backstage at SmackDown tapings over the past few weeks and was told to leave one show last month, being escorted out of the building as a result.
Andrade Leaves WWE For A Second Time
After requesting his release in March 2021, Andrade went on to sign with AEW in June of that year. Despite being in the promotion for 2 and a half years, he was used more sparingly and did not capture any championships while in the promotion. After losing to Miro at Worlds End 2023, Andrade left AEW and made his WWE return as part of the 2024 Royal Rumble match. Once again used sparingly, the former United States Champion was last seen teaming with Rey Fenix on SmackDown as part of the tag team division.
