Despite losing earlier in the night, Naomi ended WWE Evolution on top as she successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to become the new Women’s World Champion.
Crashing the main event match between IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley on July 13, Naomi stormed to the ring with briefcase in hand to capitalise on the physicality. With both women down, the SmackDown star’s music hit to signify the cash-in. Shortly after it was announced that the match was now a triple threat, Naomi struck SKY with the briefcase and drove Ripley into the post. Hitting the split-legged moonsault onto SKY, Naomi pinned the now former champion to win the title for the third time in her career.
The victory brings to an end SKY’s reign at 131 days and adds to Naomi’s WWE record. The new Women’s Champion previously held the gold twice back in 2017.
Earlier in the night, Naomi lost a no holds barred match to former friend Jade Cargill, which also saw Bianca Belair act as the special guest referee.
Naomi Continues Success Rate Of WWE Women’s Money In The Bank
Since its inception back in 2018, there have been 8 holders of the Money in the Bank briefcase. Unlike the men’s contract, every winner of the women’s match have gone on to successfully cash in their contract.
Some were surprised at Naomi cashing in her contract on the Raw brand given her previous interactions with SmackDown Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and rival Jade Cargill.
