Motor City Machine Guns Debut On WWE SmackDown

The Motor City Machine Guns have officially arrived in WWE.

Following weeks of vignettes teasing their arrival, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were first seen in a digital exclusive on WWE’s YouTube channel with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who confirmed that they would be in action on the October 18th episode. The match in question was announced to be The Guns take on A-Town Under and the team of Angel and Berto.

Later that night, Sabin and Shelley showed the WWE fans what many knew ahead of time with their trademark high-flying and high speed offence that has influenced many of the top teams today. The Guns won the triple threat match with a splash and neckbreaker combo and will face off against DIY the following week. The winners of that match will become the new number one contenders to the Tag Team Championships, which are currently held by Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa of The Bloodline.

Who Are The Motor City Machine Guns?

First teaming back in 2006, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have competed all over the world with championship reigns in GCW, ROH, NJPW and most notably, TNA. Their fast paced style helped them become two of the standout stars in the tag team division and were one of the many names responsible for establishing TNA as one of the best brands from an in-ring standpoint in the mid-2000s. On top of their tag team accomplishments, both Sabin and Shelley have previously held the TNA World Championship and the X-Division Championship.

Following lengthy runs in the aforementioned promotions, The Guns became free agents in April 2024 and were at one point rumoured to be joining AEW before signing their contracts in WWE.
