New details have come to light in regard to Drew Gulak’s time in WWE and his exit from the company.
On May 3rd, Gulak was among the names who was reportedly released from his WWE contract. Prior to the news breaking, Gulak had been removed from TV after allegations were made about him by Ronda Rousey. At the press conference following Backlash, Triple H was asked about Gulak’s release and if it was connected with the allegations. Triple H responded that Gulak was not released but his contract was not renewed:
“We release talent all the time. NFL releases four to five hundred people a year. We release talent all the time. It’s part of what we do. You can’t just hire people, bring them in, keep hiring more people and just keep bringing them in. An unfortunate part of the job is talent gets released. Can I say he was released? He was not released. His contract was just not renewed,” H/t to Fightful.
Drew Gulak Is Still With WWE Until June
More information has been provided on Gulak’s status with the company and his conduct by Fightful Select. Currently, Gulak is still a part of the company but his contract will not be renewed when it expires next month. It is also confirmed that an investigation was launched on Gulak following Rousey’s comments and sources within NXT believe that Gulak’s response on social media “only made things worse.”
Additional information about Gulak’s conduct has described him as a “bully”, with talents claiming that Gulak would target injuries in matches with talents who were dealing with minor injuries and would intimidate talent to not report it. Another incident saw the former Cruiserweight Champion “verbally reprimanded by Shawn Michaels and NXT coaches” for spiking an opponent in a match. The report concludes by saying that Gulak’s contract will not be renewed despite his wishes to stay with the company.
