MJF is the new International Champion and has handed Will Ospreay his second AEW loss in the process.
Taking place in the opening match of the 250th episode of Dynamite, the former World Champion added to his record as he pinned The Ariel Assassin at the end of a one hour war to capture the title. The match saw both men brawl around the ring and into the crowd with multiple moments appearing that it was over but both Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Ospreay battled on to the delight of the crowd in Little Rock, AR.
Much like his Iron Man match against Bryan Danielson at Revolution 2023, Friedman put on a great showing in-ring but resorted to underhand tactics to win the match as he used the Dynamite Diamond Ring to strike Ospreay and pin the British star with 2 seconds to go on the 60 minute time limit. Both men were tended to by medical staff after the match and Friedman required oxygen. The loss brings Ospreay’s reign as champion to an end at 52 days. Friedman also joins Jon Moxley as the only wrestler to hold the World and International Championship in AEW.
While not announced, there is a possibility that a rematch could be announced for All In due to the controversial circumstances which the title match ended.
MJF Continues Successful Return
Following on from his return at Double or Nothing, Friedman has continued his dominant run which also saw the new International Champion launch a vicious attack on Daniel Garcia. Returning to his evil ways, MJF once again looks to win matches by any means necessary.
