Mike Santana Returns To WWE NXT, Stares Down Top Champion

Mike Santana as TNA World Champion

After departing TNA, Mike Santana made his return to WWE NXT and made it clear he is going after the top prize on the brand.

Santana’s return took place on the July 21 edition of NXT. After General Manager Robert Stone was on the phone all night, indicating someone would be arriving at NXT this week, the former TNA World Champion made his arrival following the main event. Santana stared down NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo following his victory over NARAKU, indicating that he would be next in line.

However, unlike previous appearances while signed with TNA, commentary or social media referred to Santana by name. As the same thing happened when Blake Monroe [Mariah May] and Ricky Saints [Ricky Starks] made their debuts, this could indicate that Santana will be undergoing a name change.

It also appears that Santana is now full-time with WWE after previously making appearances on the show while signed to TNA.

Mike Santana Returns To WWE After Wrapping Up With TNA

A two-time World Champion in TNA, Santana departed the promotion at Slammiversary on June 28 after losing the title to Nic Nemeth. Santana posted the date 7/15 on social media, hinting that it was the date when he would become a free agent.

During his time in TNA, Santana also made multiple appearances on NXT, including winning the NXT vs. TNA elimination match at last year’s NXT Showdown. Santana also teamed with OTM to defeat DarkState in a six-person tag team match at the MSG Theatre special.
