Mark Briscoe is the new TNT Champion following a big win at AEW Full Gear.
Briscoe defeated Kyle Fletcher at the November 22 pay-per-view in a No DQ match, which would have seen Briscoe being forced to join The Don Callis Family if he lost. In what was a violent match, the closing moments saw Briscoe hit Fletcher with a Razor’s Edge through a barbed wire table, followed by the Jay Driller to win the match and the championship.
The bloody match also saw Briscoe stabbed with a screwdriver multiple times, with thumbtacks also being featured in the violent affair.
In what was a bad night for The Don Callis Family, as Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita and Hechicero failed to win the CMLL Trios Titles on the pre-show, Callis later announced that Takeshita and Fletcher would be a part of the 2025 Continental Classic Tournament. Okada, who won the 2024 tournament and is the reigning Unified Champion, is automatically entered.
Mark Briscoe Wins First AEW Championship
Although Briscoe has found a lot of success in Ring of Honor, winning the World Championship and the Tag Team Championships 13 times with his late brother Jay, this is the first time that he has won gold in AEW. Briscoe’s victory brings to an end Fletcher’s reign at 114 days. Fletcher won the title by defeating Dustin Rhodes on Collision back in July.
This was the second of 3 title changes to take place on the show, as FTR defeated Brodido to win the Tag Team Championships, and Samoe Joe defeated Adam Page in the main event to become a 2-time World Champion.
