The rumours are true, Mariah May is officially a member of the WWE roster, making her first appearance on NXT.
During the June 3rd episode of NXT, the lights went out when NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence were in the ring. May then appeared in the crow’s nest to the delight of the crowd and shock of the audience. The former AEW stated that she had finally arrived and they were looking at the next Women’s Champion. May also declared that things were about to get a lot more glamorous to end her promo.
News broke on May 31st that Mariah May had left AEW as her profile had been removed from the roster page. With multiple reports stating that the former Women’s Champion was WWE bound, fans knew that it was only a matter of time before The Glamour arrived in WWE.
May was last seen in AEW at the Revolution pay-per-view, losing to Toni Storm in the violent Hollywood Ending match.
Will Mariah May Change Her Name?
Although the fans chanted for Mariah when she made her arrival, neither the recent signee nor commentary referred to her by name. As has been seen with previous AEW arrivals, some are able to keep their names, e.g. Ethan Page, while others have undergone a rebrand, e.g. Ricky Starks becoming Ricky Saints. As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, there has not been talk of a name change and there would be no issues with May keeping her name as it is her real name, meaning it could be used if both sides choose to.
In a further update on social media, Sean Ross Sapp noted that May is likely undergoing a name change.
