Maddy Morgan Opens Up About Surprise WWE Raw Cameo And Recent Tryout

UK rising star Maddy Morgan has discussed her recent cameo appearance on WWE Raw and how her opportunity came about.

One of the most notable segments from the June 22 WWE Raw, which took place in London, saw Lyra Valkyria attack her former friend Bayley. Following the chaos, Bayley was seen in the trainer’s room. The trainer was played by Morgan, who has competed in UK promotions such as Sirens Fury and PROGRESS, along with matches in Japanese promotion Marigold.

Appearing on The A2TheK Podcast, Morgan spoke about her experiences as an extra in WWE and how quickly the segment came together:

“It was genuinely incredible [being on WWE RAW]. I got the extra work opportunity through the tryout and everything like that before I’ve been asked. Just, being able to be backstage, the atmosphere was incredible. Just seeing everyone that you’ve grown up watching, and then being sat across from them, just listening in on the conversation, it was amazing. Being on TV was incredible and I feel like everyone was looking for that opportunity. Just to be able to be put in that position where I was able to go on TV, that was incredible as well. Bayley was lovely to work with. Everyone backstage was lovely, talking me through it. It was perfect. I wouldn’t have had a better two days if I’d tried to think of it myself.”

I was literally there 2 minutes before it was happening; then it happened. I didn’t get the time to say, ‘Hello, this is who I am…’ But the whole time I was there, it was like you’re gonna be ok. I’m 18 and [I can’t believe] this is happening.”

Maddy Morgan Recently Had WWE Try-Out

Prior to her Raw appearance, Morgan was one of many UK wrestlers who competed in a recent WWE try-out. Recalling how the opportunity arose, Morgan said that she got the opportunity while on a tour of Japan:

“I got told about the tryout; I was travelling in Japan, and I was on the bus and I got a message, asking ‘Are you free for a chat anytime soon?’ I’m stuck on a bus for the next six hours, and I don’t really want to have this conversation surrounded by people. So I got back to the hotel room and got told that I was getting the opportunity to have a tryout. I was pacing up and down my room; I was in tears. Obviously, you try and keep yourself cool and professional. ‘Thank you so much for this opportunity.’ I got off the phone, had a minute, and I phoned my mum. ‘Mum, I’ve got a try-out!’ My mum was crying, my grandma was like, ‘What’s going on?’

Looking back on the try-out itself, Morgan stated that her experiences were very positive with the wrestlers and coaches:

“Just to be at the PC, that was amazing as well. I feel like I gained so much knowledge in just 3 days. It was incredible; the coaches were amazing, everyone hyping each other up. So being able to have everyone there to support you was the main thing.”

“Robbie Brookside was so lovely, and I don’t know how he does it, but I feel like when I was speaking to him about my personal dreams and hopes in wrestling, it felt like there was no one else near me, even though there was people. Matt Bloom was amazing as well.”
