Rapper Lil Yachty will be officially stepping into the ring on September 6 at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, and he will be going one-on-one with a reigning champion.
Yachty accompanied Trick Williams to the ring during the August 21 edition of SmackDown. Williams demanded that US Champion Baron Corbin join him in the ring as he wanted another opportunity at the title. Corbin answered the call, but said that he wouldn’t grant Williams another title match. Yachty then attacked Corbin with a kendo stick and Williams sent Corbin out of the ring.
An irate Corbin then laid down a challenge of his own. Corbin said that if Yachty could survive 5 minutes with him, Williams would be given another title match. However, if Corbin wins, Williams will not get another shot at the gold while Corbin is the champion. Yachty accepted the terms.
Yachty will be the latest musician to make his WWE in-ring debut. Other notable names that have stepped in the ring over the past couple of years have been Bad Bunny and Jelly Roll.
Lil Yachty Match Added To Sunday Night’s Main Event
With three matches now confirmed for the latest special, the updated line-up is as follows:
- Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty – If Yachty can last 5 minutes, Trick Williams will earn a future opportunity at the United States Championship
- Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
- Bron Breakker vs. Oba Femi
