At just 22 years old, Leon Slater has reached the top of the TNA mountain as the new World Champion.
Competing in the main event of the promotion’s biggest show of the year, Bound For Glory, Slater defeated Nic Nemeth to win the title for the first time in his career. On top of winning the championship for the first time, Slater is now the youngest TNA World Champion in history.
Slater won the match by hitting his signature 450 Swanton on Nemeth. The Bradford native celebrated with the title in the ring to close out the show on October 11.
The victory brings Nemeth’s reign as champion to an end at 105 days. Nemeth won the championship for a second time back at Slammiversary.
Leon Slater’s TNA Gamble Pays Off To Win World Championship
Leon Slater was previously a TNA X Division Champion earlier in the year. However, the British wrestler chose to elect option C, which means the X Division Champion can relinquish the title in exchange for a World Championship opportunity. A total of five title changes took place on the show, including a new Knockouts Champion being crowned.
On top of his work in TNA, Slater has been a prominent fixture in the UK promotion RevPro.
