TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater has commented on his recent run with WWE, as speculation grows that the English wrestler could be the latest to join the company when his TNA contract expires.
As part of the ongoing talent exchange relationship between WWE and TNA, Slater has made numerous appearances both on NXT and main roster programming. Along with him and Je’Von Evans challenging AJ Styles and Dragon Lee for the World Tag Team Championships at the final Saturday Night’s Main Event of 2025, which also featured John Cena’s last match, Slater also unsuccessfully challenged Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at the New Year’s Evil special.
While speaking with Joe Karni, Slater said that it was a huge opportunity to represent TNA while appearing on NXT programming, and that he is looking to do everything possible to make the right impression:
“It’s a huge opportunity for me, man. It’s something I take great pride in. Inside the ring, I’m doing my best. I’m showing people what the X-Division style is all about, what Leon Slater is about, but just like inside the ring, I’m doing the outside the ring as well. The way I’m dressed going to the venue, the way I’m talking to people, the way I’m carrying myself, trying to make sure I’m doing everything right, checking all the boxes as far as talent goes so when people say like oh we’re thinking of having a TNA talent on John Cena’s last match, like oh yea Leon of course. I’m just trying to represent myself and my company as best as I can.”
Will Leon Slater Join WWE When TNA Contract Expires?
Although nothing has been reported regarding Slater making a move anytime soon, there has been speculation that he will follow the likes of Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry as a standout TNA star who WWE are very keen on signing when the opportunity arises. Both Grace and Hendry officially signed with the promotion in 2025 when their contracts expired. Grace has since been called up to the SmackDown roster.
